Retail & Customer Service Apprenticeships

Central Training Group’s retail and customer service apprenticeships are tailored to you, to ensure you get the best possible start in your career. 

 

Our retail and customer service apprenticeships are available from level 2 to level 3 and are all delivered in your workplace, meaning you can continue to progress and learn, throughout your career path, in a way that works for you.

Traineeship

If you are between 16-18 years old with no or very little work experience then a Traineeship Programme may be ideal for you. The Traineeship Course is tailored to your individual needs, will concentrate on building up your employability and focus on getting you ready for a retail or customer service apprenticeship. 

 

These programmes last a minimum of 6 weeks, up to 24 weeks. However, most learners progress to an Apprenticeship by week 16.

Customer Service Practitioner: Level 2

Joining a business as a customer service practitioner will give you a fantastic understanding of customers, consumer branding and the customer experience. You’ll learn about complaints' procedures and consumer law. 
 
Gain experience in a real world business environment and learn with our expert trainers, who will come to your workplace to deliver your training. 
 
What you will achieve:
When you complete this Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship, you will achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Customer Service.
 
This can lead to roles like:

  • Sales advisor

  • Receptionist 

  • Shop/retail assistant 

  • Complaints handler


How does it work? 
This level 2 apprenticeship will take a minimum of 14 months to complete. You’ll receive expert face to face training, supported by online learning and on the job work experience to develop valuable skills. 

You can expect to spend 20% of your working week training, but this doesn’t mean you’ll have to be on a training course or in a classroom. You might be carrying out research for projects and assignments set by your tutor, work shadowing colleagues, learning new skills or attending training courses run by your employer. 

 

Our tutors will visit you every 3-4 weeks and spend 2-3 hours with you at each session. They will tackle agreed learning topics, mark your assignments and written work, set targets and help you plan for assessments. They’ll be your champion throughout the process, so use them to get the most out of your training. 
 

Customer Service Specialist: Level 3

A Customer Service Specialist apprenticeship at level 3 includes understanding of customers and customer retention, consumer branding and the customer experience. You’ll learn about complaints' procedures, consumer law, how to exceed customer expectations & managing team performance. 

 
What you need: 
To have completed a Customer Service level 2 apprenticeship.

 

What you will achieve:

When you complete this Customer Service Specialist Apprenticeship, you will achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship in Customer Service.

This can lead to roles like:

  • Team leaders for customer service teams

  • Line manager

  • Customer complaints team member

How does it work? 
The level 3 apprenticeship will take 15 months to complete.


Just like in the level 2 apprenticeship, you can expect to receive expert face to face training, paired with online learning, and of course on the job work experience to develop those valuable skills. 

We’d expect training to take approximately 20% of your working week, but just like in level 2 you don’t have to be in a formal classroom.

Your learning will take place in your workplace, and every 3-4 weeks your tutor will come to you and spend 2-3 hours with you at each session. 

Retailer: Level 2

This apprenticeship includes knowing your customer profile, interacting with customers, dealing with payments, helping customers to choose products and maintaining stock levels. You’ll learn about complying with legal requirements and understanding consumer law.

What you will achieve: 
You will achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Retail skills.

 

This can lead to roles like:

  • Shop/retail assistant

  • Front of house in businesses like hairdressing, and other industries


How does it work? 
This level 2 apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete.


You’ll receive expert face to face training, supported by online learning and on the job work experience to develop valuable skills. 

You can expect to spend 20% of your working week training, but this doesn’t mean you’ll have to be on a training course or in a classroom. You might be carrying out research for projects and assignments set by your tutor, work shadowing colleagues, learning new skills or attending training courses run by your employer.

Retail Team Leader: Level 3

This apprenticeship includes supporting team members, working to maintain business standards and increasing sales, as well as managing stock and replenishment. 

What you will achieve: 
You will achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail skills.

 

This can lead to roles like:

  • Retail team leadership

  • Section manager

 
How does it work? 
The level 3 apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete.


Just like in the level 2 apprenticeship, you can expect to receive expert face to face training, paired with online learning, and of course on the job work experience to develop those valuable skills. 

We’d expect training to take approximately 20% of your working week, but just like in level 2 you don’t have to be in a formal classroom.

Your learning will take place in your workplace, and every 3-4 weeks your tutor will come to you and spend 2-3 hours with you at each session. 

Retail Manager: Level 3

This apprenticeship includes managing staff levels throughout the store, managing payment systems, producing rosters and staffing schedules, preventing wastage and loss, managing conflict and allocating work. 

What you will achieve: : 
You will achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail skills.

This can lead to roles like:

  • Store manager

  • Duty manager

  • General manager


How does it work? 
The level 3 apprenticeship will take 15 months to complete.


Just like in the level 2 apprenticeship, you can expect to receive expert face to face training, paired with online learning, and of course on the job work experience to develop those valuable skills. 


We’d expect training to take approximately 20% of your working week training, but just like in level 2 you don’t have to be in a formal classroom.


Your learning will take place in your workplace, and every 3-4 weeks your tutor will come to you and spend 2-3 hours with you at each session. 

Junior Estate Agent: Level 2

This apprenticeship includes dealing with customer queries and enquiries as well as arranging and booking viewings. You’ll learn about regulation and legislation in the estate agency world, compliance and about the methods of sale.

What you will achieve:
You will achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Estate Agency.

 

This can lead to roles like:

  • Estate agent

  • Lettings agent

 
How does it work? 
This level 2 apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete.


You’ll receive expert face to face training, supported by online learning and on the job work experience to develop valuable skills. 


You can expect to spend 20% of your working week training, but this doesn’t mean you’ll have to be on a training course or in a classroom. Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship: Level 3

This Apprenticeship includes providing direction, instruction and guidance to your team, understanding different leadership styles, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and building internal and external relationships.

What you need:
To be employed as a line manager or team leader. 
 
What you will achieve
You will achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Team Leading.

 

How does it work? 
The level 3 apprenticeship will take between 12 and 18 months to complete.


You can expect to receive expert face to face training, paired with online learning, and of course on the job work experience to develop those valuable skills. 


We’d expect training to take approximately 20% of your working week, but you don’t have to be in a formal classroom, so you can fit your training around your working schedule, in the same location. 

Public Sector Compliance Officer: Level 3

This apprenticeship includes collecting, reviewing and reporting on data. You will be building case files and following regulation and legislation as well as submitting evidence for investigation.

 

What you will achieve:

You will achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship in Public Sector Compliance.

 

How does it work? 
The level 3 apprenticeship will take 18 months to complete. You can expect to receive expert face to face training, paired with online learning, and of course on the job work experience to develop those valuable skills.


We’d expect training to take approximately 20% of your working week, but you don’t have to be in a formal classroom, so you can fit your training around your working schedule, in the same location.


Your learning will take place in your workplace, and every 3-4 weeks your tutor will come to you and spend 2-3 hours with you at each session.
