Beth Martyn was signed onto Central Hairdressing’s Level 2 Hairdressing programme in August 2010. Beth was given 28 months to complete her qualification as she felt she hadn’t had the support she needed at school and we all agreed she would need some extra help with her numeracy and literacy.
Beth’s head of department, Michelle Saward, believes that Beth truly deserves a mention in our Good News Stories, as she has worked so hard she has actually achieved her Hairdressing qualification three months early.
Michelle said: “Beth has been a pleasure to work with. She has shown excellent dedication to her qualification and will make an excellent Hairdresser.”
In Beth’s own words: “School always put me down and didn’t really give me much support. Being at Central has improved my confidence and Howard (Central literacy support tutor) helps me with my writing and spelling.” Beth said she always wanted to be a hairdresser and really enjoys it.
Beth works in Hairazor in Stifford Clays. Her boss, Louise Aston said: “When Beth joined the salon she was very shy and nervous. She has come on in leaps and bounds and is now ever so confident. Beth has always worked hard andhas the challenges in Hairdressing.”
Beth was presented with an award for Outstanding Achievement at Central’s recent prize-giving evening in Essex.
